People's Cube quoted in a book on popular astronomy

User avatar

A SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY!

The People's Cube was quoted in a book on popular astronomy.

Our friend and dedicated People's Cube scout Gerard emailed us that while reading The Pluto Files (2009) by an astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson he came across four pages (122-126) in which this NYT best-selling author quotes the People's Cube "Pluto Crisis" parody and references the source as ThePeoplesCube.com (also listed as "People's Cube, The" on the Index page).

Does this mean we are becoming a household name?

Back when I was un undergraduate, we created our own underground fraternity called Theta Beta Omega (which basically stood for "The Burn Outs"). Since I lived in a fourth floor walk-up converted attic affectionately known as the sweatbox, I spent a lot of time on the first floor in Booge and Jarhead's dorm room. As Beta-O headquarters, we commonly referred to it as The Burn-Out Hall.

A friend fo mine from off campus called my room and got no answer. He knew I was probably asleep in Booge and Jarhead's room, but knew them only as Booge and Jarhead--no idea of their phone number or their real names. He called the campus switchboard and asked to be connected to the Burn-Out Hall. They rang Booge and Jarhead's room. At that moment, we knew that we had arrived as a campus entity.

It was a good feeling. So is this. Congrats, Red.

The Cube is influencing the scientific community! Our glorious propaganda department must be working overtime. They deserve a couple extra beets.

Kommissar Vodkov,

It is a great day indeed when the bourgeois quote the Cube in their scientific literature. Soon the intellectuals will be better educated in the wise ways of equality.

Excellent work Red Square!

Long Roll The Peoples Cube!

Anyways I recently found this glorious large hi–res poster and I thought it would make a good ad for The Cube. Here is my version. Anyone who wants to make there own can find the original HERE

The debate is over!

The Cube is now made legitimate by its mere mention in a book of science (at least until such time as another book comes along to debunk it as bunk).

My Reddest, Squarest One of All, I think you made a big impression on the author. And I'll bet a bushel of beets and a vat of vodka he's been here at least a few times since.

The astronomer who looks from the People's Cube to the stars, and back again, must have the most glorious and equal perspective on the universe that an astronomer can have.

Comrade Red Square,

I do have another message for you, however,

Red Pundit - your picture was out of place here, so I deleted it. Twice. Please don't post it again. If you can't figure out why then it's not worth explaining it.

Image Way to go on hitting home everyone!

On a slightly different note, have we yet to restore Pluto to its once rightful status as a planet? I lost track thanks to THAT IMAGE and the mindf*** that came with it.

User avatar
Comrades! Clearly the author of this book is mocking The Party™! I denounce this Thoughtcriminal™ for The Party™ will NOT tolerate mockery, satire, or any other dissent! I demand that Flickr take down all images that relate to this book!

User avatar
Comrades,

I am speeechless. And that is not because I fear to speak out, as I speak only the Truth to now-Celestial Power!

Today the mailman brought me a package with a copy of The Pluto Files, mailed from American Museum of Natural History, Hayden Planetarium. The book was autographed with a silver marker over a dark blue page:

To Oleg, an honorary space cadet.
Neil D. Tyson

The author also wrote this to me in an email:

Neil D. Tyson wrote: I continue to think that your mock Pluto headlines are one of the high-points of the book.

User avatar
That's pretty cool, comrade! I take it you didn't tell him that I denounced him as a Thoughtcriminal™.

I just got an email from the author with the promised message to the readers of the People's Cube.

To the readers of the People's Cube.

What an honor and privilege for me to quote heavily from one of your hysterical parodies of Pluto's demotion. The mock New York Times headlines, subtitled "Pluto Crisis Edition" landed across several pages of my recent book "The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America's Favorite Planet"

The Pluto Files celebrates the public's reaction to Pluto's demotion by highlighting all manner of news articles, humor pieces, comic strips, and correspondence I sustained with pissed-off third graders, for my leading the charge to reclassify Pluto.

Keep up the good work. Perhaps one day you can spawn the People's "Hyper"cube. That's of course a cube in 4-dimensions, showing the world that in fact, you think outside the box.

Best to all who visit these pages.

Neil deGrasse Tyson

Thank You Comrade Neil deGrasse Tyson,

The collective has but one mission for you, FREE PLUTO!!!

Comrade Tyson,

I second Comrade Red Roster's sentiments! Never falter in your struggle to liberate Pluto from it's bourgeois oppressors!!! I officially rescind my denouncement of you as Thoughtcriminal™. Let it be known that you are a member of the working intelligentsia who is in good standing with The Party™.

We can dream of the day that The People's Hyper Cube is spawned when the 4th dimension is liberated from the clutches of evil Kapitalist oppressors. Before that, we must liberate AmeriKa, today!!!!! Tomorrow, the 4th dimension!!!!!

High points, Hyper-cubes, and Kudos to the Kollective. The Party™ can now assimilate "space-collectives"...BorgCube. I certainly like reading cubist work when I'm spaced out. Or, maybe I'm spaced out because I read The Peoples Cube.

What next? Poor Pluto. Will decadent capitalist next denounce Red Planet? One planet down 7 (6, 5 ?) to go in deterministic domino.

Comrade, I'm all atwitter! How glorious for the people!

Neil deGrasse Tyson has now fallen victim to the #MeToo movement. How far we've traveled since 2009...

Neil deGrasse Tyson under investigation after accusations of sexual misconduct

Mentioning that he once quoted the People's Cube would probably sink him even further.

It feels we're living on a different planet now. Trump or no Trump, the Left's cultural revolution is ever accelerating, with its gravitational pull swallowing larger and larger stars and miscellaneous stellar objects indiscriminately, advancing the day when it acquires enough mass to become a black hole. That's when the world will implode upon itself and become a supernova known in political astronomy as the Glorious World of Next Tuesday.

User avatar
I understand he met Big Bird once, and it changed his life. But not very much, apparently; he considers everyone else just a theory.

Oh dear, such a pity. Then again, it's just an allegation. Then again and again, an allegation is more important than actual facts. And, much easier too!

Oh, I forgot to mention, Comrade Red, that that second paragraph qualifies as a WOW! I will save and use it.
