A scene on the steps to the Lincoln Memorial.
"Our enemies smile when we fight each other" could be a rebuke to the hateful rhetoric coming from the stage. And while the nation is divided, America's enemies smile. In the context of the rally, however, such an interpretation is highly improbable. The likely enemies in this case are the Republicans, the conservatives, and the Tea Parties. Those who fight each other are the various radical factions that attack Obama from the left and invariably side with America's enemies. Such an interpretation is closer to the truth - and it makes the entire theme of the "One Nation" rally a big joke.
This booth at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial is selling patriotic and military badges, patches, and stickers. Needless to say, no one was buying anything. Observe the puzzled protester with an anti-war sign staring at the merchandise.
"Good jobs for all" looks silly next to a shirt advertising Nike, reviled by the left for using sweatshops and child labor in Asia.
"Insatiable is not sustainable." Could this be a message to the unions?
Lincoln vs. SEIU: make your bets, comrades!
The American flag with corporate logos for stars was likely meant as a negative statement - "we know who is really running this country." But in a strange way, it might as well be a statement of pride. How many countries can boast such an array of internationally recognizable brands? In addition, if this couple had done their homework, they'd know that about one half of these companies are shilling for the Democrats and often donate to leftist causes.
It's a good thing United Farm Workers of America don't attend Tea Parties with their union logos and flags - or they'd be all over the news branded as Nazis.
Here's the symbol of the National Socialist German Workers' Party from the 1940s for comparison (not present at the rally).
Here's how it looks on a shirt.
More historical labor-related analogies from Nazi Germany - one flag for industrial workers and one for farm workers. (Not present at the rally).
"Hate Ain't Free." Not only does this make no sense, but bringing a sign with monkeys to a NAACP event is also insensitive and certifiably idiotic. For this young man's sake I hope no one has suspected him of being a white supremacist on a mission to mock the rally.
Huh? Wasn't "colorblind" supposed to be a good thing? Are workers now supposed to shed years of diversity training and support politicians solely on the basis of their color? How does that relate to Martin Luther King's dream exactly?
If the unions were the reason for the destruction of the American steel industry and shipping all those jobs overseas, wouldn't it be only logical for the "Fight Back America" organization to fight back against the unions? One can dream, right?
"Keep jobs in America - tax the corporations" is as sane as saying "keep the golden egg, kill the goose."
If "corporations are not people," then when a company goes bust, no one loses a job, right?
"I think, therefore I am a Democrat." I'm also wearing a shirt with two Sarah Palin heads licking a shining scrotum on a string. I think.
An elderly couple carrying American flags were clearly out of place. This rally probably wasn't what they had expected.
If you don't know the answer to that question, then perhaps you are too clueless to be in college. Who were your teachers in school anyway? Oh, never mind.
The liberal doth protest too much...
Hey kids, I see you already hate capitalism. Good. It brought us all the stupid stuff like computers and longer life expectancy. How about we give you a shovel and you'll be working on government projects for the rest of your short, insignificant lives? Resurrect the C.C.C. and become a work drone in a hive collective!
If today's rally instilled in you fear of Republicans, Tea Parties, and capitalism, and blinded you to reality, wouldn't these people then qualify as your oppressors? I think they would.
Union of unemployed with the People's Cube logo. No further comments.
"Bring back the American dream." Step one: dump the unions. Step two: join a Tea Party.
WPU YDS - Young Democratic Socialists demand: "give education back to the people!" Like, take it away from socialists who are currently running it?
This is their logo on Facebook. Is that what the Statue of Liberty means?
Just give your Social Security back - but you ain't getting back your taxes! And that is why "liberal" IS a dirty word.
"Fund Jobs nor War" protest sign at the WWII Memorial. All the absurdity aside, isn't this what FDR had been doing for over a decade prior to the war, and it only drove the country deeper into the Great Depression?
Unless this protester means that green jobs and a unilateral disarmament are the equivalent of a suicidal terrorist act against America, his outfit makes no sense. This man is either a clever subliminal saboteur - or he is an idiot. I think he is an idiot.
Meet the Coffee Party. Now serving decaf.
"Why can't we be friends?" Maybe it's because you're a creepy old guy wearing a rubber glove and holding a kiddie-friendly sign with a hairy hand on it?
And then there came the time for me to visit a port-o-potty. Guess what I found in it?
The sign below explains exactly why the comrades always get stuck with no work, no peace, and no action.
I don't want to disparage the 99ers. They are the unfortunate folks whose 99 weeks of unemployment benefits have expired an they still haven't found a job. But the large blue sign below does nothing to help them. Saying "The American Dream has no expiration date" next to Flash Mobs 4 Jobs implies that the American dream is about gathering in mobs to demand pittance from the federal government. And saying "Americans want to work" while demanding an extension of benefits is a non sequitur. Something tells me the real issue behind this showing is not the American dream at all. And going to UWAG.org - a socialist front group - proves my suspicion. As usual: the issue is not the issue - the revolution is the issue!
Below are several representatives of the religious left, or the so-called "social justice Christians." They are included into this "Mismatch" section because of a mismatch that exists in their heads. Scroll down to the last image to see what exactly they are teaming with, and make your own judgment about their sanity.
